* A sound-free zone as proposed by Mete Cem Arabacı has the quality of a true intervention on space as it provides a perception never existed before. We as urban pedestrians come close to this experience on our daily routine as we move around in our tuned isolations boxed in various music humming devices. However, these musical routes we take are strongly designed by our tastes and are highly manipulated with our momentary moods. Cem's offer is a surprising but relaxing encounter, especially when performed as total silence. To me, it performs fully as an "emotionstop" where your habitual emotions would be suddenly vacuumed into a new perspective in which your senses of sight and smell would be heightened to a great degree. What is more, the experience, first taking off as a surprise, has the potential to build itself into a desire. The questions on the quality and reality of the project's implementation remain to be responded by the architect. Meriç Öner
